Products Description

The Pro Pleat filter is our high-capacity pleated HVAC pre-filter, designed for projects that require a larger filtration area and longer service life than flat panel filters, while also demanding ease of use and lower costs.

These filters are typically used as the first or second stage of filtration in commercial and industrial air handling units (AHUs), rooftop units, and fresh air systems. They are installed before bag filters or other medium-efficiency filters to capture coarse and medium-sized particles, protect coils, and allow downstream filters to operate within a reasonable pressure drop range.

If you are upgrading from basic flat panel filters or lightweight pleated filters and are looking for a more robust product with more filter media and more consistent performance, then the Pro Pleat series is a great recommendation.

Product Highlights

Where Pro Pleat Filters Fit in the Filter Chain

In a typical project, Pro Pleat Filters are installed in one of these configurations:

As the main pre-filter
In comfort HVAC systems for offices, malls, hotels, airports and schools, where a pleated pre filter is enough to protect coils and fan wheels.

As a reinforced first stage before bag filters
In hospitals, food plants and clean manufacturing areas, where an F7–F9 bag filter or cartridge filter is used downstream.

As a compact upgrade for existing filter tracks
In older AHUs that were designed for simple flat panels or pads, but now need higher media area and better dust-holding without changing the housing.

In all three cases, the goal is the same: let the Pro Pleat handle most of the coarse load and part of the fine dust, so your more expensive filters and coils are not acting as the first dust catcher.

Technical Parameters

Pro Pleat Filters use synthetic G2–G4 (≈ MERV 6–8) media in a rigid galvanized or aluminum frame, with evenly spaced pleats to give stable airflow and good dust-holding for pre-filter duty.

The chart above shows the typical pressure drop vs. airflow curves for G1–G4 grades. At common HVAC airflows (around 2,000–3,000 m³/h per filter), clean resistance is generally in the 30–60 Pa range, with G1 lowest and G4 highest. This means you can choose the grade that fits your coil protection and air-quality needs, while keeping fan energy and pre-filter change-out intervals under control.

How Pro Pleat Differs from Standard Disposable Pleated Filters

One of the most common questions from buyers is: "What are the actual differences between Pro Pleat and standard disposable pleated pre-filters?"
When discussing this with our overseas clients, we generally highlight the following aspects:

More usable media area
Pro Pleat packs are designed with deeper and more stable pleats than very light disposable panels. This provides more effective media area in the same face size, which translates into a longer service life before reaching final resistance.

Stiffer, more robust construction
With metal frames and proper pack support, Pro Pleat filters maintain their shape better in higher-velocity sections and in units where filters are handled frequently. This reduces the risk of deformation, gaps, and performance loss.

Better suited for multi-stage systems
In systems that also use bag filters or HEPA filters, Pro Pleat is designed to be a serious first stage, not just a token pad. It is built to handle a significant portion of the dust load, allowing subsequent stages to focus on finer particles.

More stable performance across batches
Because we manufacture these as a regular product line, with controlled pleat geometry and media selection, pressure drop and loading behavior are much more predictable from batch to batch than with improvised or ad-hoc pre-filters.

If your project only requires simple disposable filters for home air conditioners, standard disposable pleated filters may be more suitable;
However, for engineering projects or commercial/industrial HVAC systems requiring long-term maintenance, Pro Pleat will better meet your expectations for stability.

Applications

Pro Pleat Filters are used as pleated HVAC pre-filters in a wide range of systems:

Pharmaceutical Facilities
Installed in AHUs as a pre-filter stage upstream of HEPA filters in cleanrooms and controlled environments.

Electronics Manufacturing
Helps reduce coarse dust load on finer filters that protect sensitive equipment and products.

Food Processing & Packaging
Used in supply air systems for production and packaging zones where clean, stable airflow is required.

Commercial HVAC Systems
Applied in office buildings, hospitals, schools, shopping centers and public facilities to improve indoor air quality and protect downstream filters.

Industrial Workshops & General Industry
Pre-filtration in welding, machining and general process areas to capture coarse particles before they reach finer filters or equipment.

Sizing, Options & OEM Support

When working with overseas clients on the Pro Pleat series, we typically confirm a few things first:

Exact dimensions
Width, height and thickness, plus any special tolerances if your filter tracks are tight.

Media grade and target pressure drop
Whether you prefer lower initial resistance or longer life, so we can choose media weight accordingly.

Frame type
Galvanized or aluminum frame, with or without outlet-side mesh.

Labelling and packing
Neutral packing, your own brand labels, barcode, AHU position marking on cartons, etc.

For OEM buyers, once we lock the drawing and bill of materials for your Pro Pleat model, we keep those as your standard so that repeat orders do not need to be re-discussed each time. Mixed loading with bag filters, HEPA filters or washable mesh pre-filters is also possible to make full use of container space.

Installation & Replacement

Before installation, check that the filter frame is not twisted or damaged and that the gasket or sealing edge is intact. Confirm the required airflow direction from the unit drawings or the existing filter and make sure the airflow arrow on the Pro Pleat Filter, if present, matches the actual airflow in the filter rack. The upstream and downstream sides should be clearly oriented so the pleats face the airflow as intended.

Slide the Pro Pleat Filter into the frame or track, making sure it is seated firmly and evenly on all sides to minimise bypass. The frame should make full contact with the holding frame or clips; if there are visible gaps, use appropriate sealing strips or adjust the retaining mechanism. When installing in multi-filter banks, align all panels so the faces are in a common plane and the corners meet without openings between frames. This helps maintain uniform airflow and prevents localised high velocity that can reduce filter life.

During operation, it is good practice to monitor differential pressure across the filter. Replacement intervals depend on dust load, operating hours and system design. Many users replace the filter when it reaches the recommended final resistance specified for the system, or in line with a planned maintenance schedule (for example, monthly or quarterly checks). Recording pressure drop readings over time will help you optimise the change-out point for your application.

When replacing, remove the used filter carefully to avoid releasing accumulated dust into the air. Place the old filter directly into a bag or container for disposal according to local regulations and site procedures. Because Pro Pleat Filters are lightweight and self-supporting, one technician can usually handle installation and removal without special tools; basic PPE such as gloves, safety glasses and a mask is recommended, especially in dusty or sensitive environments. After replacement, re-check that all filters are correctly seated and that access doors or panels are closed and latched to maintain proper system tightness.

Our Role as Your Pleated Filter Manufacturer

We manufacture Pro Pleat Filters in our own factory in Xiamen, together with other pre filters, bag filters and HEPA filters. For buyers, the main benefit is that you can:

Discuss technical details directly with the people who design and build the filters

Order different types of HVAC pre-filters from one place, with unified packing and documentation

Keep a consistent specification across multiple projects and sites

If you already have an existing pleated pre-filter in service and you want to switch to a higher-capacity option, you can simply send us photos, label information and the measured dimensions. We will come back with a Pro Pleat proposal that matches your housing and improves the service life where possible.
