Fiberglass Pocket Filter

Fiberglass Pocket Filter for High-Temperature HVAC Supply Air
Overview
Our Fiberglass Pocket Filter is a rigid, extended-surface bag filter built for supply and recirculation air systems that run a bit hotter and cleaner than typical comfort HVAC. Glass microfibre media gives you stable fine-dust performance, good temperature tolerance and a pocket pack that keeps its shape even at higher face velocities.

Design Rationale – Why Use Glass Fibre Pockets?

Glass microfibre media behaves differently from many synthetic felts:

The fibre matrix stays dimensionally stable at elevated temperatures common in heavier-duty AHUs.

The depth-loading structure gives good dust holding and predictable pressure build-up over time.

The media lends itself to fine and very fine particle capture, which is useful where PM₂.₅ and PM₁ targets are part of the specification.

We combine this media with:

Multi-pocket layouts (typically 4–10 pockets per frame) that inflate evenly and avoid dead zones

Internal stitching or spacers that prevent pockets collapsing onto each other

Galvanised steel, aluminium or rigid plastic headers that fit standard holding frames in air-handling units

The result is a glass media bag that behaves consistently from one replacement cycle to the next, which is what maintenance teams care about most.

Filtration Classes & Particle Size Behaviour

Depending on project requirements, we configure this range to cover:

F7 – medium-fine stage, often equivalent to MERV 13 and roughly in the ISO 16890 ePM₂.₅ range

F8 – stronger fine filter, commonly used as the main supply-air stage in demanding commercial projects

F9 – high-end fine filter, comparable to MERV 15 and aimed at strong reduction of particles around and below 1 μm

By particle size, the behaviour can be summarised as:

Coarse and mid-size dust (> 10 μm, 5–10 μm)

All three classes remove this fraction almost completely once the filter is in normal operation.

Fine dust / PM₂.₅ (≈ 1–2.5 μm)

F7 already provides significant reduction; F8 and F9 push efficiency much higher for this band.

Medium Efficiency Spray Booth Pocket Filter

Near-submicron fraction (≈ 0.3–1 μm)

F9 glass media is chosen where the specification calls for strong control of this range before the air reaches occupied spaces or HEPA elements.

We do not claim a single "universal" efficiency value; instead, we match class and media to the standard you are working to and the air-volume you need to move.

Dimensional Envelope & Layout Choices

To integrate smoothly into existing AHUs and filter banks, we can supply glass media pockets in all common face sizes and depths. Typical options are:

Nominal face sizes

592×592 mm, 592×490 mm, 592×287 mm and equivalent inch sizes, with other dimensions on request.

Pocket depth

Common depths around 370 / 400 / 500 / 600 mm, selected according to casing depth and target airflow.

Pocket count

Usually between 4 and 10 pockets; more pockets increase media area and lower face velocity within each pocket, at the cost of a slightly higher initial resistance.

Header types

Galvanised or aluminium profiles for metal frames, or moulded plastic headers where corrosion resistance and lower weight are priorities.

If you send us your current filter label, drawing or dimensions, we can configure a glass media pocket that fits directly in the same holding frame.

Certifications

Our fiberglass pocket filters are produced under a ISO 9001:2015–audited quality system, ensuring repeatable performance from raw media to finished goods. Flame behavior meets UL 900 Class 2 requirements for HVAC filters used in air-handling equipment. For critical facilities, configurations are available to support ASME AG-1 sections relevant to nuclear air and gas treatment, including documentation for materials, fabrication, and inspection.

Selection Notes for Engineers and Buyers

When you compare glass media pockets with synthetic bags or compact filters, a few practical points help the decision:

Choose F7 where you want a solid fine stage but overall air volumes are high and energy cost is sensitive.

Move to F8 or F9 where the building brief calls for better control of smog, combustion particles or where the filters sit immediately upstream of HEPA modules.

Stay with glass media when the AHU runs warmer or when past experience has shown that synthetic pockets deform in your housing over time.

Consider overall system design: a well-chosen glass pocket upstream of HEPA can lower HEPA loading and make replacement planning easier, without trying to replace HEPA itself.

For project enquiries, a short set of data – filter class, size, face velocity and application – is normally enough for us to propose a concrete configuration and expected pressure drop.

Applications of fiberglass pocket filter

Commercial HVAC & AHUs (make-up/return air)
Mid-stage filtration for offices, malls, airports, hospitals-protects coils and maintains IAQ. Specs: ISO 16890 ePM2.5–ePM1 (F7–F9), low ΔP, high dust-holding at 1.5–2.5 m/s.
Long-tail: F7 fiberglass pocket filter for AHU; F9 replacement 592×592×600; low ΔP pocket filter for VAV.

Healthcare & Labs
Upstream of terminal HEPA in ORs, ICUs, clean corridors, BSL labs-cuts particle load and extends HEPA life; UL 900 Class 2 compatible; gasketed headers for low leakage.
Long-tail: ePM1 hospital HVAC pocket filter; cleanroom gasketed fiberglass pocket; pre-HEPA lab pocket filters.

Food & Beverage / Pharma (GMP/HACCP)
Blending/packaging zones-moisture-resistant media, epoxy-coated frames; FSC packaging options for sustainability.
Long-tail: F7 pocket for food plant HVAC; fiberglass pocket for pharma AHU; washdown-tolerant pocket header.

Industrial Plants & Data Centers
Turbine/controls/server spaces-low ΔP, predictable loading, easy change-outs; protects coils and equipment.
Long-tail: energy-saving pocket for data center MUA; industrial fiberglass pocket ePM2.5.

Maintenance Planning & Replacement Strategy

From an operations viewpoint, these filters should be treated as a planned maintenance item, not a "fit and forget" component. In many AHUs:

Initial resistance at rated airflow falls roughly in the 90–160 Pa range, depending on class and geometry.

A reasonable final resistance target is often 300–450 Pa, chosen to balance energy cost with filter life.

Replacement intervals are then set either by reaching that resistance, by calendar time, or by indoor air quality monitoring, depending on how your site operates.

We recommend monitoring differential pressure across each bank and keeping basic records; that makes it easier to settle on a realistic replacement cycle over the first year of operation.
